The JVR team attended the 2018 Animal Care Expo in Kansas City last month with Dr. Robertson speaking at the Workflow Management Boot Camp workshop alongside Dr. Kate Hurley, Laura Maloney, and Betsy McFarland.
About the Workshop
The workshop was an interactive session with participants discussing the importance of having a mission, tracking your work hours, and setting very specific professional and personal goals. Since this was my first Expo, I set out to soak up as much knowledge that the industry professionals had to offer. With tracks ranging from shelter medicine to marketing, I immersed myself in the world of animal care alongside other passionate individuals. I was most struck by the amount of compassion and care that was the driving force behind each person that I spoke with. Listening to their stories, especially from shelter employees, helped me to understand struggles that JVR can work to be a part of providing solutions for. In addition to the outstanding workshops and speakers, the Expo also hosted over 200 exhibitor booths with information on the latest products and services. Many of the exhibitors had interactive learning elements, games, and prizes. I’d be remiss to not mention the plethora of tasty vegan food options available every day of the Expo! The entire experience was overwhelming positive and sent me home with feelings of inspiration and motivation.
