Heather CammissaHeather has two decades of professional experience in animal care and control with more than a dozen years serving as chief executive officer leading strategy, fiscal management, program development, fundraising, communications, relationship management, legislative affairs, board relations and cause advocacy.

Heather holds a Master’s Degree in Economics and worked in both financial and social economics for nearly a decade before her self described “Yogi Berra Fork in the Road” to animal care and not for profit management. Her data and fiscal analytical skills have driven individual organizational revitalization to the creation of national programs to drive efficiencies in the animal care and control arena. She is a popular speaker at regional and national conferences including recent presentations on trends in animal welfare and program design at the Association of Animal Welfare Advancement, Humane Society of the United States Animal Care EXPO, Best Friends Conference and the New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association.

She has worked with national, regional and local entities across the country in the animal care and control field, including 57 animal care agencies in Louisiana and Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina. She led the creation of an 80 organization network for impact and economic efficiency from Puerto Rico to Canada. She is a Certified Animal Welfare Administrator (CAWA), Animal Control Officer (ACO), Animal Cruelty investigator (ACI) and is currently pursuing a graduate certificate in Wildlife Forensics and Conservation from the University of Florida. She has taught and developed curricula for more than a decade with Career Development Institute and taught mathematics and economics as an adjunct at Rutgers University.
